Rev. Michael V. Smith has been pastor of the South Union Missionary Baptist Church for over fifteen years where he is dedicated to bringing men, women, and children into the family of God, developing disciples of Jesus Christ by equipping saints for Church Service and taking mission into the community and world while demonstrating love toward God and our fellow man
Pastor Smith has been faithful, prayerful and purposeful in guiding the congregation through God's vision for South Union Church. Through the guidance of the Holy Spirit, Pastor Smith has sought to bring progressive leadership and spiritual enlightenment to his flock. The congregation's membership has grown significantly in souls since 1998.
In the words of congregational members, Pastor Smith has the natural ability to reach out to lighten one's burdens and to soothe one's soul. He is a "people person" who is not content with the status quo. He relates to all segments of a diverse church population in a positive way.
Pastor Smith is a native Louisianan. He earned a Bachelor of Science Degree in Business Administration from Grambling State University in 1983; and has attended the School of College of Biblical Studies for more in depth studying of the Bible.
Pastor Smith is married to Lucrecia and they are the proud parents of five children. LaToya, Mary, Michael, Jeremy & Ebony and three grandchildren.
